A referee took a huge hit during Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie’s interceptions return for a touchdown

The New York Giants had been looking for a way to gain the upper hand against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7 until Cowboys quarterback Matt Cassel gave them the prime opportunity to do so. He threw a weak pass to Terrance Williams running a weak comeback route and Giants corner Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie jumped the route and got off to the races.

DRC had such a clear path to six points that he started celebrating a few dozen yards before the goal line and he still wasn’t touched on the return. However, one official wasn’t quite as lucky as he got absolutely destroyed on the sideline while trying to run down the sideline with the return:

Darren McFadden certainly took a big hit on that block, but his momentum was all absorbed by the referee who went tumbling to the ground in a flurry of stripes and whistles.

That pick-six gave the Giants a 17-13 lead over the Cowboys in the key NFC East matchup. Another Cassel interception on the Cowboys’ next possession only put things going more strongly in favor of the G-Men. Luckily, no refs were harmed after the second interception.
