Carolina Panthers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

With a 6-0 record to start the year, the Carolina Panthers look like one of the favorites to come out of the NFC and really shock the league. However, without much of an offense to speak of, it will be difficult for this team to remain undefeated, especially in a tough road game Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles, on the other hand, are looking to climb over .500 for the first time this season as Chip Kelly’s squad is looking to get its groove back after a very slow start. It’s too early to tell if Sam Bradford is the answer at quarterback for the Eagles, but whatever has been working over the past few weeks need not be changed.

Keys to Victory

Carolina Panthers

Carolina really needs to find some sort of success through the air in this one. The Panthers have one of the worst passing attacks in the league despite having one of the more dynamic quarterbacks. Greg Olsen will likely still be the top target for Newton, but he will need to repeat what he did last week against the Seattle Seahawks for the Panthers to win.

Defensively, taking away the momentum DeMarco Murray has on the ground right now would be wise as the Panthers have one of the top defenses in the league, especially now with Luke Keuchel back.

Philadelphia Eagles

Feed the hot hand. Right now, DeMarco Murray has all the confidence in the world and recently stated that he’s starting to feel like himself again after a slow start to the season. He has now rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns, but still trails Ryan Matthews as the team’s leader in rushing yards. Get DeMarco the ball.

Another key to victory would be protecting the ball, on Sam Bradford’s part, and getting it in the hands of Jordan Matthews more in the pass game. He’s leading the team with 384 yards and a touchdown on 36 catches, but he needs to be much more involved.

Prediction

Starting the season 6-0 is not easy in the NFL, especially with a lethargic offense, for the most part. While the Panthers have a strong run game, the Eagles will slow it down in this one while Cam Newton struggles through the air. DeMarco Murray will have a second straight solid game for the Eagles as he will rush for over 100 on a stout Panthers defense.

Final Score: Panthers 24, Eagles 27
