Ryan Mathews broke loose for the biggest play of Sunday Night Football, as he ran for a 63-yard touchdown.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Ryan Mathews has given the Eagles offense some life after a sluggish first half, as he broke free for a 63-yard touchdown run. The Eagles faced a 21-6 deficit at halftime, but Mathews has put his team back in the game.
The Carolina Panthers will not be easy to defeat though, as they are known for their physical defensive play. Mathews took advantage of a rare blown coverage opportunity though, and he took it to the house. Here is a video of Mathews breathing life into the Eagles offense.
The Eagles running back found a relatively clear path to the end zone, as he found an open hole before speeding past two Panthers defenders. He has not seen much action on Sunday Night Football, which is no different than his previous games with the Eagles.
However, he made the most of his opportunity and now has 96 rushing yards and a touchdown on five carries. Meanwhile, quarterback Sam Bradford continues to be underwhelming for the Eagles while receivers have dropped four passes.
Thanks to Mathews’ touchdown, the Eagles now have a total of 151 rushing yards as DeMarco Murray has continued to look his old self again. The Panthers are known for their tough run defense with valuable assets such as defensive tackle Kawann Short and Star Lotulelei. It remains to be seen if the Panthers can hold off an Eagles offense that has continued to show improved team chemistry as the season has gone along.
