The Miami Dolphins welcomed the Houston Texans to town with a rout of the Houston defense.

10. Final. 44. 59. 26

Whatever Dan Campbell is preaching to the Miami Dolphins is working. In his second game as head coach of the Dolphins, Miami came out and once again dominated from start to finish as the team played hard for a full 60 minutes again.

The Dolphins would get started fast offensively yet again on their first possession of the game when the team went right down the field and Ryan Tannehill found Rishard Matthews for a score. A few possessions later, Tannehill found Jarvis Landry on a short route, which Landry showed off his impressive speed as he took the ball on a crossing route for 50 yards and the score.

The rout was on in Miami from there. On the next drive, Lamar Miller was off and running for 29 yards and a 21-0 lead for the Dolphins. Lamar Miller then began asserting his dominance, when he took a short pass 54 yards for a score on the possession after that for a 28-0 lead.

If things couldn’t get any worse for the Texans, Brian Hoyer would follow up the Dolphins scoring drives by giving them more points when he threw a pick-six to Reshad Jones. To cap off one of the worst first-half performances for Houston, they would allow Miller to break off an 85-yard touchdown run to end the first half and the score was 41-0 at the half.

In the second half, the Texans would try to make the game at least respectable when the team added a few scores of their own to make the blowout not look as bad. Arian Foster would add a score through the air and on the ground and Nate Washington would catch a pass from Hoyer to make it 41-20.

Houston would get one last garbage time touchdown as Hoyer would find Washington late in the game, but that would be it in Miami, as the Dolphins won 44-26.

Three Stars

3. Ryan Tannehill: After struggling with turnovers the last few weeks, Tannehill didn’t throw any on Sunday in the Dolphins blowout victory. He was almost perfect on the day as he went 18-of-19 for 282 yards and four touchdowns.

2. Jarvis Landry:  Landry was once again a catalyst for the Dolphins offensively with his yards after catch. He finished the day with five receptions for 83 yards and two touchdowns.

1. Lamar Miller: Lamar Miller powered the Dolphins all day with his legs, including an 85-yard touchdown run. He had 14 rushes for 175 yards and one touchdown. He also caught three passes for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Next Week

The Miami Dolphins will have no time to waste this week as they have to prepare for the short week and a game on the road against the New England Patriots.

After two games in Florida, the Houston Texans will return home to face a struggling Tennessee Titans team as they try to get something going.
