The Minnesota Vikings bounced back from an early deficit to beat the Detroit Lions.
19. 50. 28. 60. Final
The Minnesota Vikings came into Ford Field with a winning record to face a Detroit Lions team fresh off their first win of the season. The Lions found themselves down in a 14-3 hole after the first quarter, but a big second and third quarter swung the score in their favor.
At one point, Matthew Stafford left the game with an injury to his left hand. His hand was wrapped and he returned to the game, but this would be something to watch as the week goes on.
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson had an impressive stat line of 18 carries for almost 100 yards, all after swallowing chewing tobacco. It is a bit misleading since 75 yards of those came on one run.
Still, it was the Vikings kicker who did the most damage and handed the Lions the loss.
Three stars
- Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Vikings – Over 300 yards passing, high completion percentage and a couple of touchdowns with no interceptions.
- Matthew Stafford, QB, Lions – Stafford had over 200 yards passing, a pair of touchdowns, no interceptions, and a damn near perfect passer rating. This all came while he ran for his life, he was sacked 7 times.
- Blair Walsh, K, Vikings – Made five field goals, the longest of which was 53-yards to score 15 points. He did miss one of two extra point attempts.

Next Week
Next week the Vikings travel to Soldier Field to play the struggling Chicago Bears. This is a team that handed the Lions their first win of the season.
The Detroit Lions host the Kansas City Chiefs next week in a game in London. This game will be aired at 9:30 a.m. ET and you have to wonder which of these tow struggling teams will get the win overseas.
