Detroit Lions fire offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, offensive line coaches

With their season in complete shambles, the Detroit Lions are firing offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi
The Detroit Lions, currently at 1-6 on the season, are starting to make some serious moves because of the abysmal start. On Monday, they reportedly have decided to send offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi packing, as well as their offensive line coaches.
The move should not be all that surprising, especially when you consider that over the course of the past few seasons, when you think of the Lions, your attention immediately turns to the offensive side of the ball. With names like Matthew Stafford, Golden Tate, Calvin Johnson and even rookie running back Ameer Abdullah, you expect them to be one of the explosive units in the league.
However, they have been anything but explosive here in 2015 as they’ve limped their way to that 1-6 record. While they do rank 7th in the league in passing yards (278.6), the rank last in rushing (68 ypg) and 30th in points (19.6 ppg). Not nearly passable for a unit that displays this much talent.
Stafford is one that has particularly struggled, throwing 12 touchdowns to nine interceptions. Not something you look for out of a signal caller that some may want to count within the upper echelon of the NFL.
Replacing Lombardi for the remainder of the season will be Jim Bob Cooter.
The Lions fell to 1-6 on Sunday with their 28-19 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
