Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle didn’t need much to dress up like Jim Carrey

Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle is one of the best coaches in the NBA. While some players may have a hard time dealing with his style or often-intense demeanor, it’s hard to argue with the results that he’s produced from his teams, even if those teams weren’t the most talented groups of players. Rick Carlisle also happens to look quite a bit like actor Jim Carrey.

It’s not really a secret that Carlisle and the prolific comedian Carrey resemble one another and you would have to guess that someone has told the coach at least once or twice that he looks like the actor. Regardless, he’s aware of his doppelganger as the Mavericks’ official Twitter account shared this picture of Carlisle’s Halloween costume on Monday:

Carlisle without a question gets a zero for effort on his costume; he added text to a regular Mavericks t-shirt. However, in the department of costume quality and comedic value, the head coach gets top marks.

In fairness, Carlisle probably has bigger things on his mind besides trying to get together an ensemble that Jim Carrey would wear or that Carrey wore in one of his films. After all, the NBA season does begin tomorrow and looking like Ace Ventura isn’t going to help win basketball games.
