The NBA season was less than one full half in when Derrick Rose tweaked his ankle — or something.

Less than one half into the fresh NBA season, Chicago Bulls star and ex-face of the franchise Derrick Rose came up lame attempting a layup against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

There’s commentary to be had here but it’s really getting old at this point. Seriously, it’s not even shocking that Rose tweaked his ankle going in for a layup as it’s basically what he does at this point. Rose was once the MVP of the league and was on the rise in a big way after the 2010-11 season. But tearing his ACL in 2011-12 set him spiraling downward on an injury filled journey that has seen him play a fraction of the games we thought he’d be a part of when he signed his max contract almost a half decade ago.

Here’s Rose’s injury, which is nothing we haven’t seen before.

He came up lame, hobbled around but managed to make a play the next possession the Bulls had the ball. It’s not as devastating as what we’ve seen before but it’s wildly disconcerting that less than a half into his first game, Rose is already injuring himself.

It’s massively depressing that Rose being injury prone is met with a shrug and move to the next subject. When he first got hurt we were all crippled as a basketball community, but now it’s almost an afterthought that Rose isn’t at 100 percent and is tweaking things.
