From one massive dunk to another, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Shaquille O’Neal is involved in the greatest moment in the history of the Orlando Magic. The Magic may not have a great deal of success or any titles to hang their hat on in the history of their franchise, but they do have a run with one of the most dominant physical presences that the game of basketball has ever seen.

There’s no need for any kind of lead in as to how Shaq got to the hole to dunk the basketball because it really doesn’t matter. The Magic center threw it down with so much force that he legitimately sent the entire goal tumbling down on top of his head. That’s just something that doesn’t sound like it should be possible for a member of the human race, yet Shaq did it.

This wasn’t the only display of Shaq’s power absolutely wrecking backboards, shot clocks, and goals, but it reigns supreme over all the rest simply because of the spectacle of the whole thing. It’s just not something that you think you’d ever see.

Why the play is important to the Magic is pretty simple. There was never a time of more hope and promise for the Magic than when Shaq was in Orlando. Yes, he bolted from the team to play for the Lakers, but he was a tour de force stepping into the league with the Magic and this moment is the epitome of that.
