Jason Pierre-Paul could be back with Giants in Week 10
After a fireworks accident almost ended his career, New York Giants defensive end, Jason Pierre-Paul, could be back by Week 10 to help the team.
When Jason Pierre-Paul lost part of his fingers and hand to a fireworks accident, the chances of him returning to the New York Giants, let alone football looked bleak. Well through hard work and dedication to get back on the field, Jason Pierre-Paul could be back very soon.
According to Fox Sports, Pierre-Paul is reportedly on the verge of signing a contract with the New York Giants. He could also be back as soon as Week 10 against the New England Patriots, as he tries to help the Giants in their fight for a division championship.
"The sides are still working on the details of a contract that would run through the end of the season, but the expectation is that a deal will be completed Tuesday. The Giants insisted on a contract that will be reduced from the roughly $870,000-per-week rate of the franchise tender they gave Pierre-Paul back in February, and it appears they will get their wish. The contract will include incentives for performance to allow Pierre-Paul to recoup some of the money he lost via his fireworks accident."
While Pierre-Paul won’t earn the money he was initially offered before the accident, it seems like the Giants are trying to give their star defensive end a make-good deal that would allow him to get back some of the money as a sign of good faith.
There’s no doubt for the Giants, that it will be a welcome sight to have Pierre-Paul back on the field. The Giants could use a boost in their pass rush and getting after the quarterback. If Pierre-Paul is capable enough to get on the field, then that is a upgrade in itself.
If the reports are true and his first game is indeed against the Patriots in Week 10, then he will be thrown right into the fire against the defending champions and the NFL’s elite. There will be no better test for Pierre-Paul and to see what he can bring to this Giants defense.
All season long, the question has been whether or not Pierre-Paul will even to be able to play again. It’s beginning to sound like he will and it comes at a great time for the Giants as they fight for the NFC East crown.
