The NBA season tips off tonight, but who is starting the season on top of the NBA Power Rankings and who has work to do?

After a summer of speculation and trying to figure out who is going to rise to the top this season, we will finally begin to get the answers we so crave.

But while we have 82 games until the postseason starts and six months of basketball to dissect as we determine who is going to be the best of the best this season in the NBA. LeBron James and the Cavaliers begin their quest to bring a title to Cleveland — again — but might end up facing a familiar foe in the NBA Finals if the LaMarcus Aldridge signing goes well for the San Antonio Spurs.

Beyond the top contenders, like the Warriors, Hawks, Rockets and Bulls — all of whom are going to try and sort out who they really are this season — we have fringe contenders to watch as the season unfolds. Can the New York Knicks shock the world and make it into the Eastern Conference playoffs as the No. 8 seed? Will the Minnesota Timberwolves be the cinderella darlings of the 2016 season? Where will Anthony Davis and the Pelicans end up in the first year of the Alvin Gentry era?

It’s looking like we’re going to be in for a fantastically interesting NBA Season, as teams on top now might has sunk to the bottom by the end of the season and vice versa. Onwards to the NBA Power Rankings for opening night.
