In the first quarter of the Warriors first game of this season, Stephen Curry dropped 24 points

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors had to be riding a bit of a high heading into the tip-off against the New Orleans Pelicans. After all, Stephen Curry and company had just received their 2014-15 NBA Championship rings and unveiled the championship banner prior to the game. Rather than be complacent as a result, Curry decided to absolutely annihilate the Pelicans right out of the gate.

Curry just couldn’t be stopped in the first 12 minutes against New Orleans. The reigning NBA MVP jus kept hitting three:

And more threes, just because he felt like it:

If that wasn’t enough damage, the sharpshooting point guard decided to unleash one of the filthiest ball-fakes I’ve ever seen while driving to the rim on the baseline, absolutely perplexing Eric Gordon on Curry’s way to an easy lay-up:

When it was all said and done, Curry finished with 24 points in the first quarter against the Pelicans in the opener. For context, LeBron James scored just 25 points in the entirety of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ opener on Tuesday night. The 24 points were also a record for a first quarter for Curry.

Like I said, Curry was the deserved MVP of the league last season. If this is how he’s playing in the first 12-minute period, I think he might have a shot at winning the award in consecutive years.
