Game 6 of the 2013 Finals and the “Wayback” Machine – June 20, 2013

For this generation of NBA fans, Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals may be their most notorious Tim Duncan memory.

If you are anything approaching an NBA diehard, you would recall that Ray Allen knocked down a picture-perfect three-pointer at the end of Game 6 to set the table for Miami’s comeback victory and an eventual NBA title. However, Tim Duncan owned the early stages of that contest, even at the age of 37.

Duncan scored 25 points in the first half on the way to a 30-point, 17-rebound showing in the game, and for a few minutes of clock time, 23-year-old Duncan appeared as if out of a movie. Spurs fans will undoubtedly recall a missed lay-up by Duncan down the stretch that helped contribute to the loss, simply because that is what sports fans do, but watching the first half on June 20, 2013 was an out-of-body experience for a Duncan fan.
