The New England Patriots ran their record to 7-0 on Thursday Night Football, pounding the Miami Dolphins, 36-7, at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots jumped all over Miami, scoring on their first possession with a 47-yard touchdown catch by All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski. New England never looked back, trouncing its rivals.

Ryan Tannehill was under duress all night and was intercepted twice. Tannehill only had eight incompletions in his last two games combined, but he threw 16 of them on Thursday. It was a rough night all around for the Dolphins, who now have a 3-4 record and are tied for last place in the AFC East.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Tom Brady

Brady was his typically incredible self, throwing for four touchdowns and 356 yards without a touchdown. Brady was able to find his receivers all over the field and spread the wealth, hitting seven different targets. Brady already has 20 touchdowns on the season against one interception, showing why he’s the leader in the clubhouse for MVP.

2. Julian Edelman

Edelman consistently finds ways to get open, and on Thursday night was able to score twice. Edelman dominates in the slot with his quickness and toughness, catching seven passes for 81 yards. Brady relies on Edelman more than anybody else, targeting him more than any other receiver this season.

3. Patriots defense

New England is often associated with its offense and for good reason, but the Patriots can play a little bit of defense as well. Miami was limited to 14 rushing yards on the night, its third-lowest total in franchise history. The defense was also able to sack Tannehill five times, harassing him all game long.

Odds

New England was favored by eight points and easily covered the spread.

Next Week

The Patriots will be hosting the Washington Redskins while the Dolphins will stay on the road to take on the Buffalo Bills.
