The Tennessee Volunteers have been a competitive program in 2015. How will they look against their newly released 2016 schedule next season?
With great recruiting and competitive play, the Tennessee Volunteers have been competitive under head coach Butch Jones. While the team has lost some close heartbreaking games this season, it’s clear the fire is back in Neyland Stadium and the Volunteers deserve to be in the conversation in the SEC East.
Quarterback Joshua Dobbs has shown incredible intelligence and has been able to make plays with his arms and legs, while the Volunteers defense has been good about keeping opposing scoring low. On paper, the Volunteers’ 3-4 record doesn’t look impressive, but when examining who they lost to and how close the games were, then it’s apparent this Volunteers team can compete.
In 2016, they’ll certainly look to turn some of those close losses into wins as they look to take the next step as a program. They’ll have talented players coming in and their younger players will only get better. Here’s the Volunteers’ schedule in 2016.
Sept. 3 APPALACHIAN STATE
Sept. 10 Virginia Tech (Bristol)
Sept. 17 OHIO
Sept. 24 FLORIDA
Oct. 1 at Georgia
Oct. 8 at Texas A&M
Oct. 15 ALABAMA
Oct. 22 Open date
Oct. 29 at South Carolina
Nov. 5 TENNESSEE TECH
Nov. 12 KENTUCKY
Nov. 19 MISSOURI
Nov. 26 at Vanderbilt
There are few easy games on that schedule, but the Volunteers will have plenty of experience from this season going into those games.
