Before the 2011 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals had only reached the playoffs nine times in 42 years. But in that draft, the Bengals hit the lottery with two specific picks: A.J. Green and Andy Dalton.

Dalton has gotten some heat for his playoff futility, but he’s still young in his career. Many want to label him a failure because of his inability to lead the Bengals to the divisional round of the postseason, but don’t forget the Bengals were irrelevant before he and Green even got there.

Both started as rookies, and they developed a chemistry beyond belief. The Bengals have made the playoffs every year the two have been a tandem.

In a perfect world, neither Dalton nor Green would fall victim to a major injury. If they can stay relatively healthy and continue to go down the road they’re going — and stay together, of course — Dalton and Green have the potential to reach 100 touchdowns as a duo by 2022.

The record for most touchdowns by a quarterback and wide receiver is 112 — set by Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison in 2008.

It’s a perfect case scenario because injuries happen and players have their own agendas, but it’s an interesting idea to think about. Dalton and Green could be much higher on this list one day.
