Arizona Cardinals rookie receiver J.J. Nelson made an incredible one-handed grab on a deep throw
The Arizona Cardinals offense has been one of the most fun to watch in the NFL this season with the rebirth of Chris Johnson and Carson Palmer staying healthy and airing it out. On Sunday in Week 8 against the Cleveland Browns, rookie wide receiver J.J. Nelson decided he wanted to get in on the fun, as well.
On the opening drive of the game, the Cardinals were moving the ball relatively well, but Palmer dropped back to air it out. He threw a lobbing deep ball Nelson’s way and the rookie made a terrific play to create just enough space to get his left hand under the ball and haul it in for a 38-yard reception:
That may not be the prototypical awe-inspiring one-handed catch, but having the wherewithal to get that arm free and then having the strength to bring in the grab is undeniably impressive.
Arizona kept moving after that fantastic play by Nelson and ultimately put points on the board with an 11-yard touchdown pass from Palmer to Troy Niklas to take a 7-0 lead to start the game. If their offense is going to be making plays like that Nelson catch, it could be a long day for the Browns on Sunday.
