DeAndre Hopkins snags 21-yard TD (Video)
The Houston Texans are not a good football team, but they do have a hell of a receiver in DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins has continued to show why he is one of the best young players in the league on Sunday afternoon, catching a 21-yard touchdown pass from Brian Hoyer.
Hopkins entered Sunday with 776 receiving yards, the most of anybody in the league. He has been nearly unstoppable to this point, with the touchdown above giving him six on the season. His dominance is even more incredible when you factor in that Hopkins has nobody around him, with a lackluster group of receivers and Arian Foster out for the season with a torn Achilles.
Watkins has been saddled with some of the worst quarterback play imaginable over the last three seasons. In his rookie campaign, Hopkins was stuck playing with Case Keenum and Matt Schaub, who had basically become an interception machine. Last year, Hopkins had to deal with Ryan Fitzpatrick and Ryan Mallett, another underwhelming duo. Yet, somehow, Hopkins went for his first 1,000-yard campaign.
This year has been no better in that regard, with Mallett and Brian Hoyer slinging the pigskin. The Texans have failed to develop any kind of talent of consistency under center, leading to a bunch of really bad play and seasons wasted.
