The Dallas Cowboys are getting one of their biggest stars back on Sunday afternoon, with Dez Bryant hitting the field for the first time since breaking his foot in Week 1 against the New York Giants. Bryant had practiced throughout the week and will provide Dallas with a legitimate playmaker on the outside to go with Terrance Williams.
Bryant’s biggest problem might be finding an accurate quarterback. Dallas has lost each of its last four games to drop to 2-4, mostly because Tony Romo broke his clavicle in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Since then, the Cowboys have been starting either Brandon Weeden or Matt Cassel under center, something that should not be foisted upon any fan base.
Bryant at least provides a tremendous weapon who should be able to stretch the defense and make some acrobatic catches if need be. Bryant was on the franchise tag this offseason and promised to hold out if he was not given a big deal. Surprisingly, the Cowboys and Bryant were at a stalemate for most of the summer until the July 15 deadline, when the sides came together for a five-year, $70 million deal.
Dallas desperately needs to turn things around. Romo will be out for at least three more games, something that could be a death blow even in the mediocre NFC East. The Cowboys are currently a game and a half behind the Giants, who they split the season series with.
