Overall, it was a huge day for QB’s with passing numbers continue to rise while running backs had quiet days for the most part.  Here’s the players who came up biggest so far in week 8:

Drew Brees-QB-New Orleans Saints: Drew Brees had an outstanding game against a struggling Giants’ secondary.  Brees threw for an NFL-record-tying seven touchdowns while completing 40 of his 50 passes for 511 yards.

Eli Manning-QB-New York Giants: Eli did all he could to keep up with Brees throwing for six touchdowns and 350 yards.  He didn’t turn the ball over, but a late field goal after a big punt return cost the Giants the game 52-49.

Odell Beckham Jr.-WR-New York Giants: The G-men did their best to keep up with the Saints and Beckham led all receivers with three receiving scores.  He hauled in eight of the nine passes thrown his way and finished with 180 yards to go with his trio of touchdowns.

Carson Palmer-QB-Arizona Cardinals: Palmer had what would have been a headline day most weeks throwing for four touchdowns and 374 yards in the Cardinals win over the Browns.  His big day was eclipsed by the wildness in New Orleans, but he still had a good day for his fantasy owners.

Alex Smith-QB-Kansas City Chiefs: Smith and the Chiefs had a big game early on Sunday scoring 45 points in their win over the hapless Lions in London.  Smith threw for 145 yards and two touchdowns and added 78 yards and a rushing touchdown as well.

Malcom Floyd-WR-San Diego Chargers: Floyd had a big game for the Chargers in their loss to the Ravens hauling in four passes for 92 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Tavon Austin-WR-St. Louis Rams: Austin had a pair of touchdowns, but he did it uniquely-scoring one on the ground on his three carries for 21 yards and adding a second on his 98 yards receiving on four catches.

Benjamin Watson-TE-New Orleans Saints: Watson had the best day among all TE with 147 yards and a touchdown on his nine catches. He benefited from Brees big day against the Giants.

Julio Jones-WR-Atlanta Falcons: Jones had more receiving yards than any other player in the league finishing with 162 yards on 12 catches. He caught the game-tying touchdown late in the Falcons game, but Atlanta ultimately lost in overtime.

Todd Gurley-RB-St. Louis Rams: Gurley had the best day of all running backs and was the only back with over 100 yards and a touchdown.  He finished with a league-high 133 yards on his 20 carries while scoring  a rushing touchdown.  He added three catches for 13 more yards on another big day for the rookie.
