New York Jets vs. Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders will look to win consecutive games for the second stretch in the 2015 NFL season as they welcome the New York Jets to O.co Coliseum on Sunday afternoon as the Jets are fresh off of a big AFC East loss. Derek Carr, Amari Cooper, and the Raiders offense will have their work cut out for them against one of the best overall defensive units in the league led by Darrelle Revis at the cornerback position. Meanwhile, Khalil Mack and the Oakland defense look to make life hard for Chris Ivory and force Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brandon Marshall to beat them through the air to get a win on the road.

Keys to Victory

The Raiders have one of the best run defenses in the NFL to this point in the season, meaning that they should be able to handle the Jets’ greatest strength in their rushing game with Chris Ivory. That means that New York is going to need a big game from the likes of Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brandon Marshall in the passing game. Though it’s not exactly a comforting notion to have to rely on Fitzpatrick, he needs to be good in this one for the Jets to have success.

Meanwhile, offense is going to be at a premium for Derek Carr and company as the Jets are stingy in terms of both the run and the pass when they’re on defense. What’s key for Carr in this game is to limit his mistakes and not turn the ball over. Moreover, the Raiders need players like Latavius Murray and Amari Cooper to break open a big play or two if they want to have a chance at putting away the Jets in this game.

Prediction

This game has all the makings of a defensive struggle with two mediocre offenses going against defenses that take away what their opponent does bets. However, I just think that the Raiders have more big-play potential on their roster and have less Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback. Subsequently, I believe Oakland will ultimately come out on top in this game.
