Titans at Texans: Full highlights, final score and more
By Mike Dyce
The Houston Texans beat the Tennessee Titans in a clash of the lowly AFC South rivals.
The rivalry between the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans doesn’t get a lot of attention because both teams have struggled to remain relevant, which was once again the case this Sunday. The 2-5 Texans welcomed the 1-5 Titans to Houston, their former hometown.
The Texans managed to get a dominant win as their defense terrorized Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger, who was out for the injured Marcus Mariota. Texans defensive end J.J. Watt had 2.5 sacks and a tackle for loss, and he wasn’t even the most dominant player on defense.
Texans linebacker Whitney Mercilus had 3.5 sacks and four tackles for loss. Linebacker Brian Cushing added 13 tackles and cornerback Kevin Johnson nabbed an interception.
Three stars
- Brian Hoyer, QB, Texans – Hoyer threw for over 200 yards and had two touchdowns, most importantly, no interceptions.
- DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Texans – Caught eight passes for 94 yards and a touchdown.
- Whitney Mercilus, LB, Texans – Mercilus did the unthinkable and outshined J.J. Watt, racking up 3.5 sacks and four tackles for loss.
Highlights
DeAndre Hopkins touchdown.
Nate Washington had a 42-yard touchdown reception.
J.J. Watt made the highlight reel with an impressive sack.
Odds
The Texans were favored at home by 3.5 points and the over/under was set at 43. The teams combined for 26 points, well short of the over/under, but the Texans obliterated the spread.
Next Week

The Houston Texans travel to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in one of their toughest games of the season, and the beginning off a tough two-game stretch against some AFC contenders.
