Dallas Cowboys safety Jeff Heath feels horrible about the hit that injured Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette

A huge scare came Sunday when Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette was hit on a block by Dallas Cowboys safety Jeff Heath following a punt by Seattle. Immediately following the collision Lockette dropped to the ground and stayed motionless for several minutes.

Both teams were visibly shaken by the incident as the medical staff did their work on the Seahawks player. Fortunately Lockette was able to give not just a thumbs up, but even a few fist pumps to signal he was going to be alright as he was carted off.

Today the man who hit Lockette expressed how awful he feels about the unfortunate incident.

Heath was flagged for a blindside block, although Fox analyst Troy Aikman sure didn’t agree with the call as the two men were facing one another when contact was made. It sure didn’t appear to be a malicious hit, but rather a stark reminder of how close each one of these players are to seeing their career’s jeopardized on every single play.

Fortunately the news seems positive moving forward as the Seahawks team page claims the receiver is going to be okay. Lockette is said to have suffered a concussion and is obviously sore after the play.

He stayed in the hospital overnight as more tests were being run and is likely to miss some time while he satisfies the NFL’s concussion protocol, but the news is great after the scary sight on the field.
