The University of Notre Dame reportedly fires an academic coach for forcing football players and men’s basketball players into having a sexual relationship with her daughter.

According to the New York Daily News, who first broke the story, an unnamed female academic advisor at the University of Notre Dame was fired after accusations arose about her forcing student athletes into having sexual relations with her daughter.

The report stems from African-American student athletes on the football team and the men’s basketball team having been coerced into uncomfortable situations that compromised their integrity for academic help.

A student sued the University on Friday for the academic tutor manipulating “‘sexually and racially motivated’ trysts with her daughter including condoms, transportation, and hotel rooms for academic favors.'”

The student’s attorneys argue that the University of Notre Dame is harboring “a sexually abusive and hostile educational environment. The student reportedly was forced into the relationship, tried to end it, and was supposedly told by the academic coach to convert to Catholicism and seek a mental health evaluation.

The University denied allegations as late as Saturday night, probably not to get in the way with the Irish’s big game against the Temple Owls. Notre Dame spokesperson Paul Browne dismissed the lawsuit as late as Saturday, stating that the allegations were “unfounded.” He declined to make on comment on the matter Sunday.

These claims made by student athletes are unsettling to say the least. If these allegations are in fact true, then the University of Notre Dame could be in so much trouble. Blatantly exploiting student athletes sexually is especially heinous. This doesn’t look good for the university in the slightest.

The plaintiff of the lawsuit tried to sort out this sticky situation with school officials before feeling forced to take this to trial. According to his lawyer, the school ignored his requests to meet and discuss the matter repeatedly.

The student athlete’s lawyer best summarized why the need to take this to a trial by jury. “We were kind of given no choice. When the door was slammed in our face we had to pursue our client’s rights through the courts.”
