Twitter can barely handle the Royals winning the 2015 World Series

The Kansas City Royals have won the 2015 World Series after taking Game 5 against the New York Mets on Sunday night by a count of 7-2. The Royals trailed 2-0 going into the ninth inning, but the stubborn, gritty Royals wouldn’t be denied as they scored two runs to send the game into extra innings. They then broke loose for five runs in the 12th inning to take Game 5 and the World Series.

There’s no doubt that this is a story of redemption for the Royals after they made it to the World Series just one year ago, but fell in seven games. Moreover, Kansas City ends a 30-year World Series drought after having not been to the peak of Major League Baseball since 1985.

With the team going that long without a World Series win, Royals fans were undoubtedly amped to see their team as the champions of the baseball world. They weren’t afraid to share their emotion either as Royals fans, baseball fans and everyone celebrated, made jokes, trolled the Mets, and everything in between on social media:

Congratulations to the Royals and their fans on a dominant, gritty win in the 2015 World Series.
