Khiry Robinson broke his tibia and will miss the rest of the season for the New Orleans Saints.

According to New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton, the team will not have the services of running back Khiry Robinson for the rest of 2015. He broke his tibia in the Saints’ shootout victory at home against the New York Giants.

Robinson had 56 carries for 180 yards and four touchdowns being the change of pace back for the Saints. He also had 17 receptions for additional 115 yards.

This is a tough loss for the New Orleans Saints offense. Starting running back Mark Ingram will have to carry even more of the load in Khiry Robinson’s absence. The Saints have clawed their way back to .500 at 4-4, good enough for third place in the surprisingly strong NFC South. All four teams have at least three wins and no more than four losses.

The New Orleans Saints needed every bit of offensive production to beat the New York Giants, 52-49, yesterday afternoon. While quarterback Drew Brees has looked like he’s taking a bath in the Fountain of Youth the last three weeks, New Orleans will need to establish balance on offense with their running game, even without the help of Robinson for the rest of the year.

Brees, like many elite passers in the league, will throw picks if he has to drop back to pass an absurd amount of times in a game. The law of averages apply to just about every passer in the NFL, but Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers.

New Orleans has effectively forced its way back into the NFC Playoff relevancy with three straight victories, all over potentially playoff bound teams (Atlanta, Indianapolis, and New York). The defense is still a major concern for this team, so expect the offense to continue to carry the load for club going forward. The loss of Khiry Robinson is a major blow for the New Orleans Saints in terms of depth. They will have to bring in a replacement before taking on the Tennessee Titans Sunday in Week 9.
