Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette will undergo a neck procedure today following his injury on Sunday, his season could be over
After taking a hard hit from Dallas Cowboys safety Jeff Heath, Seattle receiver Ricardo Lockette dropped to the ground motionless. It was a scary incident that reminds people how much these athletes put on the line every single day to play this game.
Lockette was able to waive his hands as he was carted off, which was an encouraging sign, and then the team had more positive news about the status of his injury. On the Seahawks official website the team said they were “thankful and grateful” that the fifth year player was going to come out okay.
The Seahawks also reported that while he was diagnosed with a concussion and that there were still more tests needed to be done. Now NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that those tests revealed a procedure will be required, putting the young man’s season in jeopardy.
Ligament damage in the neck is a much bigger scare than the previously reported concussion. Hopefully the procedure goes well and Lockette can make a speedy recovery. However, he will undoubtedly be done for the remainder of the season as he recovers from the procedure to repair his neck.
Lockette has been a solid special teams player for the two-time NFC Champions and has contributed sparingly on offense. He has four receptions for 69 yards and a score in 2015, and for his career he has made 22 catches for 451 yards and four touchdowns.
