The Dallas Cowboys released Joseph Randle on Tuesday afternoon.
The Dallas Cowboys stirred up the news cycle on Tuesday afternoon when they released running back Joseph Randle. Clarence Hill Jr. was the first to report the new.

Randle’s tenure in Dallas had been turbulent, to say the least. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma State University as a backup to DeMarco Murray. That year he played sparingly in relief of Murray when the starter went down.
Last October Randle was arrested in Frisco, Texas for stealing cologne and underwear from a Dillards. He was booked and placed on probation for the incident. Only a few months later, in February 2015, he was arrested for marijuana possession in Wichita, Kansas, though no charges were filed.
Heading into the 2015 season, Randle was part of a running back by committee stable alongside Darren McFadden, Christine Lynn Michael and Lance Dunbar. Randle has disappointed this season, failing to reach 100 yards rushing in any contest – despite receiving double-digit carries in five of the six games in which he’s played. For the season, Randle averaged a scant 4.1 yards per carry behind the Dallas Cowboys’ massive line.
