Greg Hardy refuses to sign Panthers helmet, but signs $100 bill
By Josh Wilson
Former Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy refused to sign a fans’ Panthers memorabilia, but signed a $100 bill for him instead.
Greg Hardy has recently come back to the NFL playing for the Dallas Cowboys, and not for the Carolina Panthers, the team he was on when he was charged with domestic violence. Hardy was initially suspended for 10 games, but that initial suspension was reduced to four. Since then, Hardy has been in the news a lot, doing and saying a lot of questionable things, especially regarding his suspension and domestic abuse issues. He said things about Tom Brady’s wife, alluded to his abuse issue, and did all this without apologizing.
Simply put, Hardy is very uncensored, and an easily dislike-able character.
With his recent antic, though, he might have won a fan’s heart.
Hardy reportedly made an appearance and was asked to sign a Panthers mini-helmet, and Hardy said he couldn’t sign it, likely because it was of his old team, and not his current. He didn’t leave the fan empty handed, though, and pulled out his own $100 bill, signed it “Kraken” and gave it to the fan. The fan was at first disappointed that he spent $37 on the helmet and didn’t get it signed, but the $100 seemed to make up for it, even though he will probably never use that $100.
The market on that signature is likely worth much more than the $100 bill it’s printed on, though. Since returning to the league, Hardy has been in exceptional form, averaging a sack a game, and totaling eight tackles in three games. He also had an interception against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
