With the offseason getting underway, each MLB team can look back and determine whether 2015 was a success or failure.

The 2015 MLB season is officially in the books after the Kansas City Royals beat the New York Mets in five games to take the World Series crown on Sunday night.

Despite losing a heartbreaking Game 7 to the San Francisco Giants last year and being written off by many analysts to start the season, Kansas City didn’t post a losing month until September and put together a memorable playoff run that included seven come-from-behind wins.

The Royals are the only team that gets to celebrate every club’s ultimate goal of winning the championship. Still, a few others can consider 2015 a successful season.

In particular, this year was marked by young teams arriving ahead of schedule. The Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs both made the playoffs, while the Minnesota Twins were in contention for the postseason until the very end.

Others like the Washington Nationals and Seattle Mariners fell far short of lofty expectations. Whether it be success or failure, how this season played out will impact every team’s plan heading into the offseason.

Record isn’t the only factor for every team, as a couple of rebuilding clubs were able to position themselves well for the future. With that, preseason expectations and injuries coming into play, every team can determine if 2015 was a success or failure.
