Offensive Player of the Week

Odell Beckham Jr., WR New York Giants

Beckham didn’t lead the NFL in receiving yardage this week and, in fact, he didn’t even land in the top three. However, the dynamic wide receiver did reel in three touchdown catches, and that is a pretty good indication of his impact.

Yes, the Giants were unable to come away with a win during the wild 52-49 game against the New Orleans Saints, but Beckham was still dominant. He caught eight passes for 130 yards in addition to those three scores, and after a couple of “down” weeks, Odell Beckham Jr. reminded everyone that he is ridiculously talented and effective.

Runner-up: Julio Jones, WR Atlanta Falcons

Defensive Player of the Week

J.J. Watt, DL Houston Texans

J.J. Watt hit the quarterback nine times on Sunday.

Nine. Times.

Houston’s defense was generally dominant in suffocating the Titans to the tune of a 20-6 victory, and it would be entirely fair to point out that teammate Whitney Mercilus had more sacks (3.5!) than Watt in this spot. However, Watt produced 2.5 sacks in his own right and the fact that he battered Zach Mettenberger with nine hits is an indication that Watt was living in the backfield throughout the day.

The 2015 version of Watt hasn’t lived up to the hype that the 2014 version produced, but he’s still pretty darn good and Sunday’s performance was a very nice example of that.

Runner-up: Charles Woodson, DB Oakland Raiders
