Ranking every World Series winners in history

111. 1945 Detroit Tigers
88-65, AL Champions, Won World Series 4-2 Over Chicago
Every World Series Champion had a great year and proved themselves as the best team in a particular season. However, when ranking them all, one must be No. 1 and one must be No. 111.
The 1945 Detroit Tigers earned No. 111 in part because they won only 88 games during the regular season and won the American League by 1.5 games over the Washington Senators, and in part because the Tigers fielded arguably the least talented roster of any World Champion as a result of World War II.
Hall of Famer Hal Newhouser was the star of the squad, and posted a 25-9 record and Major League-leading 1.81 ERA with 212 strikeouts on the way to MVP honors. Offensively, the Tigers relied on Roy Cullenbine (.277/.398/.451, 18 HR, 93 RBI), Rudy York (.264/.331/.413, 18 HR, 87 RBI), and a 34-year old Hank Greenberg, who hit .311/.404/.544 with 13 home runs and 60 RBI in 78 games following a three-year military commitment.
