3. Dusty Baker, Washington Nationals

The Washington Nationals had a major falling out with former manager Matt Williams. Washington has recently agreed to bring in potential Hall of Fame Manager Dusty Baker to lead this misguided team of All-Stars in the Nation’s Capital.

This will be the third big league manager Bryce Harper will have had by the time he’s 23 years old. Dusty Baker now enters his fourth stint as a Major League manager. Baker had his most success as a manager overlapping the Barry Bonds Era in San Francisco. In ten seasons by the Bay, Baker won 840 games, took the Giants to three postseasons, and won the National League Pennant in his final season there in 2002.

Baker led the 2003 Chicago Cubs to the NLCS, but couldn’t get over the Steve Bartman game, as the Cubbies never returned to the postseason in his last three years in Chicago. Though Baker led the Cincinnati Reds to the postseason three times in six seasons, he was let go by the Reds after the 2013 season.

Dusty Baker has 1,671 career wins in 20 years as a Major League manager. At 66 years of age, are the Washington Nationals hoping for a Davey Johnson type of manager for their talented, but volatile roster? Perhaps Dusty can win both he and the Nationals organization their first World Series title in the next couple of years.
