Pittsburgh Steelers LB Vince Williams took a rivalry to the extreme by threatening to kill Cincinnati Bengals’ Vontaze Burfict over Le’Veon Bell’s injury.

Rivalries are a part of sports and they make games worth watching — until they get nasty and real. Pittsburgh Steelers LB Vince Williams showed the world that nasty side on Tuesday when he threatened Vontaze Burfict of the Cincinnati Bengals over Le’Veon Bell’s season-ending MCL injury.

The threat went out on Twitter — which shows there’s a total lack of caring on the part of Williams with this one, which is concerning in so many ways:

The Steelers are known to have no-tolerance for this sort of thing when it comes to their players. It wouldn’t be shocking if the team and the league come down hard on Williams for his actions. There should be no tolerance for threatening someone on social media.

As of now, there has been no statement from the Steelers or NFL. It’s likely that this is merely being looked into, and a statement will come about later on this week — with possible punishment.

The next time the Bengals and Steelers meet is guaranteed to be must-watch football given Williams’ actions. Don’t be surprised if there’s a pre-game fight or cheap shots taken at Williams by the Bengals.
