Houston Chronicle apologizes for tweet insulting Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer
This is the most critical portion of the college football season as bowl season and the playoffs are not far off. With every top team looking to stay on top and not lose critical ground in the race for a championship, these are the most important weeks of the season.
One of those teams, the Ohio State Buckeyes, are looking to defend their championship this season. During an interview with reporters, Urban Meyer talked about a field goal return play that his team was practicing. The name of that play? “Bama.”
Urban Meyer says Ohio State now practices a field goal return play. The name? “Bama."

The play of course is named after the infamous field goal return that caused the Alabama Crimson Tide to lose to Auburn a couple of years ago.
Anyways, someone at The Houston Chronicle took offense to the name of the play that Urban Meyer used, and from the official Twitter account of the publication, sent a reply back.

With an immediate bad look, the publication apologized almost immediately for the tweet that was sent out.
A tweet regarding Ohio State was meant to be sent from a personal account. It was in poor taste, was deleted and we apologize for the error.

So in essence, as is the case in a lot of these mistake tweets, someone didn’t realize they weren’t on their business’s account and then this happened.
That’s a big no-no and will probably have some lasting repercussions for that individual. It’s a good lesson as always to check where you’re tweeting from, otherwise it could end very badly.
The Chronicle did the right thing by immediately apologizing for the mistake. As for Ohio State, should they run into Alabama in the playoffs again, there’s going to be plenty of motivation for the Tide.
