Kenny Smith channeled his inner LeBron James by ripping off his sleeves while showing highlights
LeBron James caused a bit of a stir on Wednesday night when, while his Cleveland Cavaliers were struggling early on against the New York Knicks, LeBron ripped the sleeves on his sleeved jersey in response to his poor shooting and basically just left the torn fabric hanging from his shoulders. Because of the NBA’s affinity for sleeved jerseys and wardrobes, this caught the attention of virtually anyone who saw it, including Kenny Smith and the Inside the NBA crew.
On Thursday night at halftime of the first game on TNT, Kenny was breaking down highlights for the NBA on TNT crew, but was having a hard time. That’s when the former Houston Rockets guard took off his suit coat and then ripped the sleeves off of his dress shirt to help him finish the highlights:
".@TheJetOnTNT wasn’t doing well with the highlights…so he had to get rid of those sleeves https://t.co/QwWwJDIipm— NBA on TNT (@NBAonTNT) November 6, 2015"
That’s just the perfect way to poke fun at that moment from LeBron. It’s not necessarily mean spirited or anything like that, but it does present a solid rib for James doing something that was, at the very least, odd.
One can only hope that this becomes the new Internet meme regarding LeBron. We all remember the “LeBronning” videos of people flopping in everyday life. Hopefully this starts up phase two of that with people ripping off their sleeves to do mundane tasks. Don’t miss this opportunity, Internet.
