First baseman Chris Davis will be one of the most sought after free agents during the MLB offseason. Here are five potential suitors for the slugger.

First baseman Chris Davis is becoming a free agent at quite possibly the best possible time. He is far and away the best first baseman available in free agency this offseason. He is coming off a year that saw him lead the majors in home runs with 47 while finishing ninth with a .923 OPS. If you’re an MLB team and you want to improve at first base, your best option is Chris Davis and it’s not even close.

Davis’s market will be a fascinating one. He should command a huge contract. However, most of the big market teams have long-term options at first base. The Red Sox are set on making Hanley Ramirez a first baseman. The Dodgers already have Adrian Gonzalez for the foreseeable future. The Cubs already have Anthony Rizzo. The Yankees have Mark Teixeira for one more year and they have impressive youngster Greg Bird as his successor.

Davis’s market will mostly feature middle market teams because of this. Despite that, it’s hard to imagine that he isn’t going to get a huge contract. He will be getting a qualifying offer from the Orioles, but it’s hard to imagine that will affect his market at all.

Here are five potential suitors for Chris Davis.
