The NBA Season is just a week in, and already teams are starting to separate themselves at the top.

It seems like we’ve had the NBA back in our lives for so much longer than it’s been here — as it’s only been a week of action in this new season. But already we’re seeing teams like Toronto, New Orleans and Houston surprise us for a variety of different reasons.

Not all of which are positive.

New Orleans and Houston both plummeted in the latest power rankings after combining for a 2-9 start to the season. Houston almost lost to Orlando in overtime on Wednesday while the Pels are a week into the Alvin Gentry regime and still looking for their first win.

BIGGEST FALL:

↓. team. 69. . (0-4). Previous: . New Orleans Pelicans

Not all the number jumping is bad news, as teams like Minnesota, Miami and Oklahoma City all took leaps ahead in the power rankings thanks to strong starts. Perhaps no team has started as hot as the Toronto Raptors, who remain undefeated and are fresh off a huge win over the Thunder.

BIGGEST RISER:

81. . (5-0). Previous: . Toronto Raptors. ↑. team

We’re only a week into the season so all of this is still fresh — and possibly meaningless — but it’s not hard to see which teams are trying to stick out early on in the fan vote of confidence race.
