The Peak, Weak, and Sneak of the Week!

An explanation is in order.  The ‘Peak, Weak, and Sneak of the Week’ column will be a weekly article concerning three quarterbacks that I believe will impact your DraftKings lineup in a positive or negative manner. The three categories are below:

Peak – Peak of the week will discuss the quarterback I like most this week, based on matchup, and their cost.

Weak – A quarterback who a lot of analysts are high on, or has a large price tag that will not be worth their cost.

Sneak – A quarterback sleeper for the week. A low cost quarterback with boom potential.

Let’s start with the ‘Peak of the Week’ – Andy Dalton: $6200. Dalton is coming off a weak performance against a mediocre defense in the Pittsburgh Steelers where he threw for 231 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.  It was his worst game of the 2015 season in terms of fantasy points.

Dalton gets a juicy match-up against an injury depleted secondary when he takes on the Cleveland Browns.  All-Pro corner Joe Haden and pro-bowler Donte Whitner most likely will not play after both have been diagnosed with concussions. We all know that first round disappointment from last year Justin Gilbert won’t be in the secondary, as he has been relegated to kick-off duty, where he is “excited to be there.” BUST.

The Browns are giving up a smidge under 2 touchdowns per game (1.9) while allowing 268.1 yards through the air. The Browns have also had Derek Carr, Phillip Rivers and Carson Palmer throw for over 300 yards in a game this season. This Thursday on prime time television, Dalton makes it four.

‘Weak of the Week’ – Aaron Rodgers: $7400. Rodgers is coming off the worst game of his career. He threw for a whopping 77 yards on 14-22 passing, with 0 TD’s and 0 INTs. Yes, 77 yards. The Packers receivers could not find a way to get open, while the Denver defense pressured Rodgers on 63% of his drop-backs, giving Rodgers less time to even step into a throw.

Rodgers next opponent is the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers defense gives up an average of 243 pass yards a game, which lines up to 6th best in the NFL.  Rodgers and the Packers underwhelming offense currently ranks 27th in the league, averaging 210.1 pass yards a game.

The Packers are exploring to get more production from their tight ends. I don’t believe a boom in production will begin this week against a Panthers team who currently is only giving up 6.05 fantasy points to tight ends per game, ranking defensively in the top 10.

Even though I love Rodgers and the Packers, I am staying away from him and his lofty price tag this week.

‘Sneak of the Week’ – Derek Carr: $5500.  Derek Carr is coming off an absolute monstrous showing against a very good New York Jets defense. On 23/36 passing, Carr threw for 333 yards and 4 touchdowns. In the past two games, Carr has thrown for 7 touchdowns against 0 interceptions while averaging 311 yards through the air.

Carr and the Raiders are facing the Pittsburgh Steelers defense who average giving up 284.6 passing yards a game, while giving up 1.5 passing touchdowns a game.  From his rookie season to his sophomore, Carr has improved his yards per attempt from 5.5 to 7.8; which happens to be the biggest jump from rookie year to year two since the merger.

I like Carr to drive his way to another big week.
