The Dodgers’ astronomical payroll means they will be involved in any bidding for a top free agent, no matter their current roster construction. Depending on how other things go this offseason, Heyward would make sense as a potential fit.

Los Angeles isn’t exactly hurting for outfield help at this point, and adding Heyward to the current roster would require either creating a logjam or eating a lot of money. However, Heyward would instantly become the best outfielder in that group and is a great fit in Dodger Stadium.

Many have speculated that Los Angeles may be interested in trading Yasiel Puig this offseason, which would create an instant opening for Heyward. Carl Crawford or Andre Either could also be on the trade block if Los Angeles’ acts quickly enough.

Los Angeles isn’t going to mind any extra salary and have a front office that values players like Heyward very highly. The ownership group is desperate for a title in this current window, so the Dodgers may very well be interested in making the drastic moves required to bring in another star like Heyward.

The Dodgers have a lot to accomplish this offseason, particularly in the pitching market. Still, Los Angeles shouldn’t be discounted as a potential landing spot for Heyward.
