A photo is surfacing on Twitter that shows Alabama fans claiming the Tide will “Finish What Katrina Started” with an extremely offensive sign going into Saturday’s game.
Alabama-LSU is one of the more fierce out-of-state rivalries in the SEC based on the heated rivalry between Nick Saban and Les Miles through the years. Both the Tigers and the Crimson Tide have scored big wins in big games over one another, including a National Championship Game between the two SEC rivals in 2011, so it is safe to say both sides don’t like each other.
That hate sometimes gets out of hand as it always does in college football, and with ‘Bama hosting LSU on Saturday we already have the first in what will likely be several tasteless signs before kickoff. The first one surfacing on Twitter referencing Hurricane Katrina as a group of fans chose to lose their class in order to mock the Louisiana school over one of the country’s biggest tragedies of the 00’s.
A college lifestyle Twitter account (@OldRowOfficial) tweeted the photo, which appears to be Alabama fans with a banner on their balcony begging for the Tide to “Finish What Katrina Started” on Saturday. A tasteless joke about a tragedy that impacted much of the state of Louisiana back in 2015.

Tasteless signs and humor is a big part of college football tradition, but sometimes it can go too far. This sign is an example of it going to far, mocking Hurricane Katrina a major low for whoever created the sign. A tragedy on that level is out of bounds, and even most hardcore Crimson Tide supporters would be offended by using Katrina as a target over a SEC rivalry.
There’s really no way to tell the complete authenticity of this photo, but if it is indeed real, then this is one of the worst, most tasteless trollings that we have seen in quite some time.
