The Los Angeles Clippers will wear a new black alternate uniform to celebrate downtown Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Clippers continued their rebranding under the ownership of Steve Ballmer leading up to the 2015-16 NBA season as they unveiled a new logo, new home and away jerseys, and a new court design. Now they have another new addition to their arsenal in the form of new alternate jerseys.

On Friday afternoon, the Clippers announced a promotion for six Saturday night games throughout the season where the team will be celebrating downtown Los Angeles. For the occasion, the Clippers will be breaking out these sleek, black alternates for the first time ever:

I’m generally a pretty big supporter of black alternate uniforms in the NBA, but nothing can save the new Clippers logo. Initially, I thought the logo change was a good idea and that the new logo would be just fine. But after seeing the entire rebranding with the logo, that opinion has definitely soured.

The stripes on the sides of these jerseys and the way that the red, white, and blue look on the black are an incredibly good look for the Clippers. Then you see that logo in the center of the chest and it basically just ruins everything. Regardless of that Clippers logo, though, I can get behind this new wave of simplicity when it comes to alternate jerseys in the NBA. More than anything, I can get behind the best thing about these new uniforms: the death of the sleeved jersey.
