Stanford Cardinal vs. Colorado Buffaloes
The No. 11 Stanford Cardinal will hope to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive when they visit the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday at Folsom Field.
After dropping its season opener to Northwestern, Stanford has rolled to seven straight wins in impressive fashion. Still, the Cardinal didn’t receive much love in the initial College Football Playoff rankings and will be looking for style points on Saturday.
The Cardinal have been successful over the past few years due to their consistently stout defense, but their offense has been just as good this season. Christian McCaffery leads the nation with 1,954 all-purpose yards, a mark that is on pace to break the NCAA record set by Barry Sanders in 1988.
Colorado enters the weekend at 4-5, with its only conference win coming two weeks ago against Oregon State. Still, head coach Mike MacIntyre has the Buffaloes trending in the right direction, as they outplayed UCLA on the road last week for much of the game only to suffer a 35-31 loss.
To avoid the upset, Stanford will have to slow down Colorado receiver Nelson Spruce. Spruce has caught 62 passes for 653 yards this season en route to breaking the Pac-12 record for career receptions.
Stanford is deservedly a heavy favorite on Saturday, but things can get wild in the Pac 12. The game kicks off at 1:00 PM eastern on the Pac-12 Network and can be streamed on Pac-12 Live.
