WWE legend “Stone Cold” Steve Austin is still on the Dallas Cowboys’ bandwagon, and is ready to fill in at quarterback.
The Dallas Cowboys have lost five straight since quarterback Tony Romo broke his collarbone, but could they find the answer in the form of the six-time WWE Champion? Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin isn’t giving up hope on his Cowboys.
Austin has seen enough of his Cowboys’ losing run, and believes he could fill in for the huge NFC East showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday.
"“I tell you what, I got some time on my hands. I could be there Sunday, playing the Philadelphia Eagles,” Austin told The Dallas Morning News. “I think I can line ’em up, throw for about 300, 400 yards. Get (Jason) Witten open, get Dez (Bryant) working. A lot of underneath routes. Give (Darren) McFadden the ball a few times.”"
And why not? It can’t get any worse than Matt Cassel or Brandon Weeden, right? And this man is no stranger to the big occasion; “The Texas Rattlesnake” has headlined WrestleMania three times.
WrestleMania 32 will be taking place in the home of the Dallas Cowboys, AT&T Stadium, on April 3, 2016. With WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins going down with a knee injury, maybe it’s time for “Stone Cold” to claim his seventh world title.
As for the Cowboys, Austin thinks they key will be getting Romo back, who is eligible to play again in Week 11.
"“Yeah I’m a Cowboys fan — I’m waiting for Tony Romo to come back; they’re in harms way. They got to get Romo back in the lineup. Hopefully his collarbone is healed up.”"
A man the Cowboys could do with will be one the other side of the field, running back DeMarco Murray.
"“I hated to see DeMarco Murray go. I was a big fan of his. He was kicking ass, too.”"
Dallas hosts Philadelphia on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. EST in what is a must-win for the Cowboys.
