Greg Hardy breaks silence regarding controversy
Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy broke his silence on his past domestic violence charges
Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy has been the center of boiling controversy before he was even a member of the Cowboys after a beyond-troubling domestic violence case against him. That controversy reached a head again this week as the police photos of the injuries that the victim in the domestic violence incident, his ex-girlfriend, surfaced online.
The horrifying and appalling pictures and the reports of what happened between Hardy and his ex-girlfriend that night are reprehensible and have sparked the debate over whether Hardy should be kicked out of the NFL and raised questions over why the Cowboys signed him in the first place.
However, Hardy has stayed quiet as the situation has come up again, refusing to comment when asked about it. On Saturday night, he finally broke his silence by sending out only this on Twitter:
If that seems like a cookie-cutter message of “I’m sorry for what I did, but I’m trying to be better and move forward,” that’s because it is. Considering Hardy’s decision-making and behavior since coming back from his suspension stemming from the domestic violence charges, the whole trying to be a good teammate thing sort of rings hollow. Subsequently, so does most everything else that he’s saying.
No matter if you think Hardy should be banned from the NFL or if you think that he served his punishment and should keep playing, the Greg Hardy situation isn’t going away anytime soon. Perhaps, in time, Hardy will actually speak on the matter and offer something more than a comment on social media that ultimately seems empty and inconsequential.
