According to reports, the Colorado Rockies are looking at signing Mets infielder Daniel Murphy.

The hero of the first two rounds of the postseason for the New York Mets, Daniel Murphy, might soon be a very rich man. Set to be a free agent this offseason, Murphy is expected to have many suitors after his incredible stretch run in the postseason that led to him being crowned NLCS MVP.

The infielder is also versatile enough to play around the infield a bit and even outfield if need be. It appears that one team has already begun seriously discussing the possibility of adding Murphy. They also already have a position in mind for the infielder.

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Colorado Rockies are discussing adding Murphy.

With Justin Morneau set to be a free agent, the Rockies are in need of a first baseman. Adding Murphy could be the perfect corner infield counterpart across from the budding superstar, Nolan Arenado.

In Coors Field the ball flies out of the park unlike any other stadium in baseball, and if Murphy can repeat what he did in the postseason, he could pull some out of right field in the high altitudes of Denver.

The Rockies are coming off a season where they finished last in the National League West. The team is looking to rebound in 2016 with their young talent, and are hoping to soon be contenders once again in the division. Adding some potent bats to the lineup could help with that, and Murphy has postseason experience he can bring to a young roster.

Daniel Murphy is going to be a very hot commodity in free agency this year. Teams are already beginning to line up to secure his services and make him a part of their roster.
