Yankees open to anything on trade market
The New York Yankees are open for business on the trade market.
The trade window has officially opened for the New York Yankees, as team general manager Brian Cashman has shopped literally everyone on his 40-man roster in the first few days of the offseason.
Rival GMs confirmed that Cashman has been aggressive and creative in preliminary discussions, but he’s reluctant to trade the Yankees top three young (pitcher Luis Severino, first baseman Greg Bird and outfielder Aaron Judge) stars this offseason.
A year ago, Cashman revamped the roster with five trades that acquired shortstop Didi Gregorius, starting right-handed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi, and left-handed relief pitcher Chasen Shreve for two highly-regarded starting pitchers (Shane Greene and Manny Banuelos) and utility star Martin Prado. Each acquisition played a significant role in the Yankees securing a spot in the American League wildcard game, which ended the team’s two-year absence from postseason competition.
Cashman acknowledged that he’s open to trading any young player under team control if the potential acquisition can make the Yankees a better team moving forward. Still, Cashman doesn’t anticipate trading his big three prospects at the moment, but he’s open to having a dialogue with any team.
Why? Well, because no matter what happens, dialogue can always lead to good things.
