The Minnesota Vikings extend their lead over the St. Louis Rams to 10-0 following a six-yard touchdown run by Adrian Peterson
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson took a hand off from Teddy Bridgewater from six yards out to put his team up 10-0 on the St. Louis Rams.
The run capped off a quick six-play drive that covered 80 yards in only 3:32. Bridgewater was sharp on the drive by hitting receiver Charles Johnson on a 25-yard gain as well as connecting for 17 more yards with tight end Kyle Rudolph.
On the day the second year quarterback is six of eight passing for 72 yards and Peterson has added 20 yards on the ground in just five carries. There were doubts Peterson would be able to continue playing on Minnesota, as well as if he would be as effective as he had been in years past after missing so much of last season. He has shed all doubts by entering Sunday’s contest third in the NFL in rushing yards with 633 yards on the year.
St. Louis has had two drives stall out quickly and their usually stout defense has given up scores on both possessions for Minnesota. Blair Walsh hit on a 34-yard field goal earlier in the day which had put the Vikings up 3-0 on the Rams. That kick came following an eight play drive which covered just 30 yards., but was aided by a short punt of only 25 yards by Rams punter Johnny Hekker.
