The Denver Broncos might be playing with cornerback Aqib Talib in the near future. In the fourth quarter of Denver’s game on Sunday afternoon against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium, Talib got in between Broncos linebacker Von Miller and Colts tight end Dwayne Allen.

Talib, who had no business being in the argument to begin with, purposefully stuck his finger inside Allen’s facemask and started gauging his eye. This led to a major argument and a personal foul which all but sealed the game for the Colts. For Talib, it was one of the dumbest plays in recent memory and will almost certainly cost him a hefty fine and perhaps a game check.

Denver needs to have Talib down the stretch. The Broncos have one of the best corner tandems in the league with Talib and Chris Harris Jr. While Denver is all but certain to win the AFC West by the beginning of December, the Broncos could lose out on a BYE week in the AFC playoffs. With the way that Peyton Manning has played in the postseason throughout his great career, a BYE would be very critical.

Talib has to hope that the league is lenient and only fines him. It’s one thing to have a late hit but it is quite another to go after the eye of another player after the play. Denver is 7-1 and will host the Kansas City Chiefs next week.
