Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered a mid-foot sprain during the Steelers dramatic win over the Raiders. He could be out several weeks.

During the Steelers’ last-minute 38-35 victory over the Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered a foot injury. Roethlisberger could not put any weight on the foot and had to be carted off the field. Steelers fans held their collective breath because Roethlisberger had just finished recovering from a torn MCL earlier in the season. They can exhale, as the injury will not cost them their franchise quarterback for the entire season.

Losing Roethlisberger obviously hurts the Steelers. But considering how bad the injury looked and factoring in Roethlisberger’s earlier MCL injury, Steelers fans have to be happy. They’ll likely be without Big Ben for at least the next two weeks. The Steelers play the Browns next Sunday. They have a Week 12 BYE, meaning that Roethlisberger could return as early as their Week 13 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks on the road or at home against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 14.

The 5-4 Steelers currently have a playoff spot as the sixth seed in the AFC, but they will have to beat the Browns and possibly the Seahawks in Seattle without their two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback. The Steelers will likely go with backup quarterback Landry Jones in Roethlisberger’s absence. Jones was drafted by the Steelers in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Jones has started just one game this season. He has three touchdowns and two interceptions. That start came against the Kansas City Chiefs. Jones went 16-of-29 with one touchdown and two interceptions. He had success against the Cardinals, going 8-12 with two touchdowns.
